Listen Up: Meg Myers - "Adelaide"

Pop fans first met Meg Myers in mid-2011 on Doctor Rosen Rosen's EP Girls, Vol. 1, (#2 on our 10 Best Pop EPs of 2011) on which she performs the self-consciously melodramatic "Poison." If you liked that (and you really ought to have), you'll love the news that we're about to hear a bunch more from Myers and her intrepid producer.

Myers is putting the finishing touches on her debut EP with production help from the Doctor, and her kind of early-90s Tori Amos-meets-Alanis Morissette style is a departure from the electronic- and pop-rock female-driven sound he's produced thus far (along with collaborations with Anjulie and Jessie and the Toy Boys on Girls Vol. 1, Doctor Rosen Rosen produced Kay's EP My Name is Kay and has put out official remixes of Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Lily Allen and Natalia Kills). Though it's usually not my main thing I'm really picking up what Meg Myers is laying down in this top-notch tune about being stupid (and blind) in love. Maybe I've just been there and done that recently.

As the arrival approaches of Meg Myers' debut EP (the title of which she's keeping under lock and key, I'm told), you'll be hearing mostly about her newest single "Monster" (here's the video). But I dig "Adelaide" and that's what you're getting, because I like to be a little different. Just like Meg Myers.
